New extra-semestral course 5RE107 “Social and Political changes and conflicts in contemporary Latin America”

The Center for Latin American studies (CLAS) within Faculty of Economics has the honor to welcome Dr. José de Arimatéia da Cruz, who will give us a seminar “Social and Political changes and conflicts in contemporary Latin America”.

The course will take place from Wednesday 7th of May to Friday 16th of May 2014. If you want to register for this course, please do it by ISIS through extra semester courses. Ident of the course is 5RE107.

Dr. José de Arimatéia da Cruz is an associate Professor of International Relations and Comparative Politics from the Armstrong Atlantic State University, Savannah, Georgia (USA).

Dr. José de Arimatéia da Cruz focuses his research on human rights, foreign policy, media, politics, international trade and much more. In his works, he mainly pays attention on the developing countries of Africa and Latin America. He wrote a large number of excellent books as The Next Phase of Latin American Development: Business and Society; Latin America in the New International System: Challenges and Opportunities; American Politics: Transformation and Change.

This course is a general introduction to the study of social and political changes and conflicts in contemporary Latin America. One of the main objectives of Latin American Politics is to help students meet the challenges of understanding politics in a rapidly changing region of the world of the post-Cold War international system, which is becoming closely integrated to the United States as the world becomes more and more economically interdependent in a globalized knowledge based economy while at the same time becomes more and more fragmented politically.

The course will be held in English.
