Recap of the IISES International Conferences on Economics, Finance & Business in Paris, Prague, and Lisbon
In 2024, three significant international conferences on economics, finance, and business were held under the auspices of the International Institute of Social and Economic Sciences (IISES). These events provided a platform for academics and experts to share recent research findings and strengthen international cooperation. All conference contributions will be published in IISES proceedings, indexed in the Web of Science database.
Paris Conference (June 3–5, 2024)
- The Paris conference was held at ESCP Business School and focused on modern approaches, including artificial intelligence applications in economics. The main presentation, “Neural Networks – How Can We Use Them in Economics,” delivered by Michal Mec and Associate professor Klára Čermáková, explored the use of neural networks in economic modeling and analyses.

Prague Conference (September 2–4, 2024)
- The Prague conference, hosted by the Prague University of Economics and Business, welcomed 30 participants and was chaired by Professor Robert Holman. Main topics included finance, banking, macroeconomics, management, and environmental economics. Vojtěch Kotrba also presented at the conference, enriching the discussions with his contributions. Participants engaged in informal networking during a cultural trip to the UNESCO World Heritage site of Kutná Hora.

Lisbon Conference (September 23–25, 2024)
- The Lisbon conference hosted 58 participants from 23 countries and was led by Associate professor Klára Čermáková. Key topics included macroeconomics, public finance, monetary policy, and the role of AI in economic research. Attendees also enjoyed a social event visiting the historic town of Óbidos, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
