Participation of Department of Economic History Representatives at the EBHA 2025 International Congress in Brussels

On 26 June 2025, Aleš Skřivan and Tereza Strejčková, representatives of the Department of Economic History (KHD), participated in the international congress of the European Business History Association (EBHA), held at Université Libre de Bruxelles.

The congress brought together leading experts in business history from the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Denmark, the Netherlands, Italy, Canada, Japan, South Korea, the United States, and other countries, providing a platform for high-level academic exchange.

The KHD team contributed with a presentation titled “Bloc-Building and (Dis-)Continuity: The Transformation of Škoda Pilsen 1945–1960”, delivered as part of a panel focused on research within the newly launched German-Czech-Polish project “(Dis-)Continuities in Industrial Enterprises in the Transformation towards Socialism after World War II in East Central Europe and China, 1945–1960.” The session was chaired by Valentina Fava (Ca’ Foscari University of Venice, Italy) and also featured contributions from other members of the research team:

  • Jan Zofka (Leibniz Institute for the History and Culture of Eastern Europe, Germany)

  • Tomasz Olejniczak (Kozminski University, Poland)

  • Valeria Zanier (University of Bologna, Italy)

Beyond the panel session, KHD representatives participated in a meeting with editors of leading academic journals in the field of business history, including Business History, Enterprise & Society, Management and Organizational History, Entreprises et Histoire, Japanese Research in Business History, Business History Review, Journal of Evolutionary Studies in Business, and Industrial History Review.

The congress also featured a keynote lecture by Professor Cyrus Mody (Maastricht University) on the topic:
“What Do Businesses and Business Historians Really Know About Sustainability?”
