Press Release: The Rector of the Prague University of Economics and Business Appointed Two New Associate Professors at the Faculty of Economics

The Faculty of Economics is pleased to announce that the Rector of the Prague University of Economics and Business has appointed two new associate professorsJiří Rotschedl from the Department of Economics and Milan Bednář from the Department of Economic and Social Policy.

“The appointment of new associate professors is always a major milestone – not only in the academic careers of our colleagues but also for the entire faculty. It reflects their expertise, long-term scientific work, and contribution to our academic community. I would like to sincerely congratulate both colleagues and wish them continued success in their research and teaching,” said Adéla Zubíková, Dean of the Faculty of Economics.


Jiří Rotschedl – Expert in the Intersection of Economics, Neuroscience, and Practice

Jiří Rotschedl works at the Department of Economics, where he specializes in investments, neuroeconomics, and the psychology of economic behavior.
His research connects economics with neuroscience and biology, currently focusing on the impact of circadian rhythms on employee performance and their practical applications.
He is a member of the Czech Economic Society and the Czech Marketing Society, and frequently contributes expert commentary to the media.

In 2023, he received second place in the “Teacher of the Year” award granted by the Rector of VŠE.

“Being appointed as Associate Professor is not only recognition of my past work but also a commitment to continue in applied research that bridges scientific knowledge and practice. I aim to keep showing that modern economics goes hand in hand with neuroscience and can bring tangible benefits to business management and public institutions,” said Jiří Rotschedl.


Milan Bednář – Expert in Macroeconomic Analysis and Economic Policy

Milan Bednář is a member of the Department of Economic and Social Policy, where he focuses on macroeconomic phenomena and their interconnection with economic policy across EU countries.
He is a member of the Czech Economic Society and the Center for Economics, Energy and Public Policy. He also plays an active role in faculty internationalization, coordinating student internships at the Permanent Mission of the Czech Republic to the OECD in Paris and supporting doctoral studies.
In addition to his academic work, he is a frequent guest in television debates and a commentator on economic issues in the media.

In 2023, he received both the Josef Hlávka Award and the Rector’s Award for a prestigious publication.

“It is a great professional honor and motivation to continue work that helps us better understand how economies function and how economic policy affects people’s everyday lives. In my view, academic work is meaningful only when it is comprehensible and useful beyond the university setting,” said Milan Bednář.
