Psychologist PhDr. Eva Šírová, Ph.D., as Guest Lecturer in the Course Wellbeing in the Economic Profession

As part of the course 5HP302 – Wellbeing in the Economic Profession, we had the pleasure of welcoming PhDr. Eva Šírová, Ph.D., a psychologist who delivered an inspiring, practice-oriented lecture on techniques for preventing burnout syndrome.

During the session, students were introduced to the fundamentals of mindfulness and experienced a short demonstration of the MBCT-L (Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy for Life) approach. Dr. Šírová also presented a cognitive-behavioral technique aimed at recognizing what brings joy and energy into one’s life and what, on the contrary, depletes it. She further emphasized the importance of life balance and burnout prevention, a topic of significant relevance for future professionals in the field of economics.


About the Course

The course Wellbeing in the Economic Profession focuses on quality of life from the perspective of individuals, employees, and managers. Students learn methods to enhance both physical and mental health, manage stress, and develop skills essential for maintaining personal wellbeing.

About Dr. Eva Šírová

Dr. Šírová studied psychology at the Faculty of Arts, Charles University in Prague, where she also earned her Ph.D., in collaboration with Rijksuniversiteit Groningen in the Netherlands. Her long-term research interests include educational and social psychology, personality psychology, and developmental psychology. She has completed training in psychorelaxation, family therapy (Virginia Satir model), art therapy, and integrated supervision. Currently, she serves as a lecturer at the Masaryk Institute of Advanced Studies at CTU and at the Technical University of Liberec.
