Alumni Club

The NF VŠE Alumni Club was established in 2017 to enable graduates of the Faculty of Economics at the Prague University of Economics and Business (VŠE) to stay connected with their alma mater after completing their studies.

Our aim is not only to keep alumni informed about developments at the faculty, but also to offer them opportunities to participate in events organised by the faculty — or to become actively involved themselves.

The club also organises activities for current students, so they can become familiar with the Alumni Club early on and learn about the opportunities it offers after graduation.

The Alumni Club was established as part of the project Development of Educational and Other Activities and Quality Support at VŠE in Prague, which is co-funded by the European Union.

Alumni Workshop II: How to Secure Your Retirement

On 12 May 2025, the second workshop in the NF Alumni Workshop cycle took place at the Vencovský Club. Our esteemed speaker was Ing. Petr Brabec, Ph.D., an alumnus of the Faculty of Economics who continues to work actively at the faculty.

The workshop program was again designed based on the results of a survey conducted among participants. Students engaged in a discussion on predicting retirement security, pension calculations, and savings options. An interesting part of the workshop was a poll revealing that most students plan to rely on the stock market and rental income from real estate as their main strategies for retirement security.

The workshop was rated positively by students and took place in a friendly and informal atmosphere. We would like to thank the students for their active participation, Dr. Brabec for his valuable insights, and we look forward to more engaging workshops in the future.

A Successful Start of the NF Alumni Workshop Series – First Session: CV & Job Interview

On 31 March 2025, the Vencovský Club hosted the opening session of the new NF Alumni Workshop cycle, designed to connect theoretical education with practical application.

The first workshop focused on CVs and job interviews, led by Ing. Martin Vrána, MBA. Having participated in hundreds of interviews as both a candidate and an executive recruiter, Mr. Vrána shared his experience from both perspectives.

The program was built on survey results, with students most interested in interview preparation, questions to ask, professional conduct, and salary negotiation. Each of these areas was thoroughly discussed, with strong engagement from all attendees. A particularly valuable segment involved reviewing participants’ CVs individually, with Mr. Vrána offering tailored feedback and practical tips.

The session was evaluated as highly beneficial and took place in a warm, informal setting. Student feedback highlighted the value of practical advice, direct evaluation of CVs, and insights into modern HR practices.

Mindfulness Techniques for Better Mental Health

On 25 February 2025, a workshop for mentees from the NF Alumni Mentoring program was held at the xPORT Business Accelerator of VŠE, led by psychotherapist Mgr. Petr Arbet, who also teaches at the Department of Managerial Psychology at VŠE.

Students were introduced to various mindfulness techniques to reduce tension and manage stress. With only 10 participants, the intimate setting allowed for personalized guidance. Feedback from participants emphasized the professional and enriching nature of the workshop, noting that it provided both practical exercises and deeper reflection on mental health practices.

We sincerely thank Mr. Arbet for preparing this workshop and the xPORT team for providing the venue.

On 28 February 2023, the first planned workshop for mentees within the NF Alumni Mentoring program took place, dedicated to the topic of Biohacking. The workshop was led by mental coach and professional biohacker in the highly competitive environment of sports and business, Mgr. Mirek Nečas.

Biohacking focuses on processes that help optimize energy, manage stress, and improve concentration and productivity. The workshop was held at the modern premises of the xPORT Business Accelerator of VŠE, a facility dedicated to start-ups and innovative projects not usually accessible during regular teaching. Mentees welcomed the opportunity to explore and use these spaces.

Ten mentees attended and actively participated in discussions and exercises. After an introduction, Mgr. Nečas shared his insights and advice on effective time management. Other topics included sleep, productivity, and daily routines. Students were also introduced to practical tools for a healthy lifestyle, such as blue-light blocking glasses and massage devices for relaxation.
