Anniversary of the Publication of Adam Smith’s The Wealth of Nations: 250 Years Since the Publication of the Book That Changed Economic Thought

“In 2026, we commemorate the 250th anniversary of the publication of Adam Smith’s work An Inquiry into the Nature and Causes of the Wealth of Nations, first published in 1776. The Faculty of Economics at VŠE is joining this significant jubilee with a thematic day dedicated to the legacy of Adam Smith, economic thought, and its significance for contemporary economic policy and the teaching of economics.”

As part of the day, two academics from the University of Glasgow, Adam Smith’s alma mater, will give lectures during classes, and an academic conference will take place in the afternoon featuring guests from the University of Glasgow and academics from the Faculty of Economics at VŠE.
