Winter School Program with OUC: Navigating the Future: Economics and Governance in a Changing Europe

Academic Program

The winter school will offer a diverse set of lectures and interactive seminars, each designed to connect theoretical insights with applied perspectives:

  • The Future of Work: Technology, Skills, and the Changing Labor Market

  • The Economics of Politics: An Introduction to Public Choice

  • Innovative and Strategic Vision of Czechia in the Context of EU Policy-Making in Times of Turbulent Geopolitical and Economic Development

  • Chapters in Economic Policy: Czechia in the Past, the Present, and the Future

  • Public Finance and Local Development

    • Finances of Local Administrations in the Czech Republic: Budgetary Allocation of Taxes and Sustainable Investments

    • Regional Multipliers: Theory and Practice – The Local Multiplier as a Tool of Local Economic Development

  • External Macroeconomic Balance

  • An Introduction to the Tradition of Western Education with Overlaps into Economic Policy and Economics

  • Technology Diffusion and Growth Models; Labour Markets and Spatial Distributions of Jobs

  • Leadership, Motivation, and Communication (including leadership games in LEE)

  • The Economic–Environmental Nexus

Cultural and Accompanying Activities

In addition to the academic program, participants will join excursions and guided tours, including:

  • Český Krumlov (UNESCO heritage site)

  • Karlovy Vary (spa town)

  • Historical city centre of Prague

  • Czech National Bank (ČNB)

The program will also include interactive leadership games and opportunities for cultural exchange.
